A fresh political clash is emerging over voter numbers, and this time, Pauline Njoroge has turned the arithmetic itself into a powerful response to Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.

She pointed to voter turnout in Mount Kenya, arguing that the region recorded roughly 65 percent participation, with about 3.5 million voters supporting President William Ruto and another one million backing Raila Odinga.
Using those figures, Njoroge calculated that approximately 4.5 million votes represented 65 percent of the region’s voting population, suggesting a potential electorate of about 6.9 million at full participation.
Her argument did not stop there. Njoroge also pointed to the latest voter registration figures, saying the registration of hundreds of thousands of new voters could significantly alter the political arithmetic ahead of the 2027 General Election.
IEBC’s official figures show that the 2026 Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise registered 2,612,725 new voters nationally, although the commission’s published national figures do not establish Njoroge’s specific Mount Kenya figure of 527,000.
The exchange comes as Duale has increasingly spoken about voter numbers and the growing electoral influence of pastoralist and coastal communities ahead of 2027.
Njoroge’s final question was particularly pointed, asking why there would be concern about voter numbers while allegations surrounding the registration of foreign nationals continue to circulate.
The claims about foreigners remain politically contested and should be distinguished from verified voter-registration records.
