President William Ruto on Wednesday found himself in an unexpected moment during his visit to Migori County after residents failed to enthusiastically respond to an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) slogan he attempted to lead while addressing a public gathering.
The Head of State was in Migori, located in the Nyanza region, to attend a cultural festival celebrating Luo heritage.
The event attracted leaders from across the political divide, including senior figures from the ODM party, and was marked by traditional dances, songs, and colorful displays as locals turned out to witness the rare show of unity.
However, a video that has since circulated widely on social media captured an awkward moment when President Ruto attempted to chant the popular ODM slogan during his speech.

Contrary to expectations, the crowd responded with noticeable silence and scattered reactions, rather than the usual loud chorus associated with ODM strongholds.
Visibly surprised, the President paused and jokingly asked the crowd whether they had forgotten the slogan, reminding them that they were expected to be more vibrant.
His remarks drew laughter from some sections of the audience, easing the tension and allowing him to continue with his address.
President Ruto used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of national unity, insisting that cultural celebrations should bring Kenyans together regardless of political affiliation.
He reiterated his commitment to working with leaders from all regions to foster development, peace, and inclusivity.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens interpreting it as a sign of shifting political dynamics in the region, while others dismissed it as a light-hearted moment taken out of context.
Political analysts note that Nyanza remains a key political battleground, and such moments often attract heightened scrutiny.
Despite the brief hiccup, the President concluded his visit on a cordial note, praising Migori residents for preserving their culture and assuring them of continued government support for local development initiatives.
