Interesting Times for Ruto as Former Ally Aisha Jumwa Deals New Political Blow After Sifuna’s Coastal Tour
Political pressure is mounting on President William Ruto following a double blow in the Coast region. Barely hours after Nairobi Senator and former ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna concluded his high-profile Linda Mwananchi rally in Kwale County, former Malindi Member of Parliament and Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa launched a fresh attack on the Head of State.
During his Kwale tour, Sifuna traversed several villages, drumming up support to unite opposition forces and unseat President Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election. He urged Coast residents to rally behind a single opposition candidate to ensure a decisive one-term presidency for the current administration.
However, the political landscape became even more complicated for State House when a viral video surfaced showing Honorable Aisha Jumwa speaking to supporters in Kilifi County.
Jumwa, who previously served as one of Ruto’s most vocal loyalists in the Coast region, made it clear that she is actively working to ensure the President does not secure a second term.
Addressing a crowd in Kilifi, where she is preparing to contest the gubernatorial seat in 2027, Jumwa declared that the region is firmly locked under the opposition movement. She claimed that voters across the county and the broader country are now chanting the “one-term” slogan in unison.
Jumwa’s sharp turn against her former political boss highlights growing realignments within the coastal political corridor.
With key figures like Sifuna mobilizing the grassroots and influential regional leaders like Jumwa openly defecting, President Ruto faces a formidable challenge in retaining his 2022 voter base along the Coast ahead of 2027.
