The dramatic scene in Bungoma county has left Kenyans talking online. According to the video shared to us, a Police officer who was among the investigative team from the Director of Criminal investigation accidentally discharged his firearm.
The bullet unfortunately hit those who were in the court session leaving Kenyans asking questions about the safety at the court premises. Speaking to Journalists, the Bungoma County police commander set the record straight.

According to County Police commander Anderson Njagi. The gun was discharged accidentally and all the victims are at the Bungoma hospital recovering with minor injuries. The prison Officer, the DCI Officer and two Civilians are the affected victims.
Kenyans have been asked to remain calm as the investigation commences on the incident. People have been left asking questions on the safety at the Kenyan courts. Especially after a Police officer fired a gun in the Makadara court killing the presiding judge instantly.

Firearm Discharge at The Bungoma Law Court
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) acknowledges an incident that occurred today at approximately 10:50 am at the Bungoma Law Court. During this incident, one of our officers, PC Cornellious Murey, accidentally discharged a round of ammunition from his Ceska pistol.
The ricochet resulted in minor injuries to several individuals, including a prison officer who sustained an injury to the chin, three civilians and the DCI officer himself.
We are relieved to report that all victims were promptly taken to a medical facility and are in fair condition.
The DCI is collaborating with IPOA and the Judiciary in the investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm.
Further, appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the Service Standing Orders to ensure accountability and address any potential lapses.
