The ruling Party has finally issued a statement on the party position concerning extending term limits of all elected leaders.
According to Nandi county Senator Samson Cherargei, the term limit should be extended to seven years. His argument is that it will allow leaders to have time in delivering their manifesto.
Well, according to a latter Shared to media houses by United Democratic Party Secretary General Hassan Omar. The party has distanced itself from such bill tabled by Cherargei.
Omar has claimed that the government is currently focused on delivering the promises made to Kenyans during campaign and not such bills. He went on to call those tabling it playing Juvenile politics that will not be tolerated by the party.
“We want to distance ourselves from the bill being tabled by one of our member. Our focus is not extending term limits but rather delivering core mandate we were given by Kenyans. It will be wrong to denie Kenyans a democratic chance of voting in their leaders as stipulated in the constitution.” said Omar.
Kenyans Reaction.
Kenyans had warned members of Parliament not to dare table such bill and promised to defeat it just like finance bill. They promised to hit the streets with Massive Protests until it is withdrawn. Well, at least with the declaration from UDA secretary general, they can relax now.
