According to reports, United States senator Jim Risch has threatened Kenya with revoking Kenya’s Non-NATO, ally status. It is reported that, the move was arrived at after Ruto’s decision to collaborate with China on various issues. This is despite Kenya being a key ally of the USA on security and regional issues.
If the issue is not resolved quickly, Kenya will lose its prestigious position that comes with the supply of military equipment and training of soldiers through exchange programs.
