In 2022 prior to the general election. William Ruto, then serving as Deputy President of the republic of Kenya was a darling to Mount Kenya residents. He literally had weekly meetings within the region with leaders and residents either in the region or at his Karen residence.
Currently, things are not going as planned in the central region for him. The impeachment of his running mate, Gachagua is causing tension within the area and has forced him to avoid the area for a while.
Well, yesterday on December 19, 2024. The head of State appointed Mutahi Kagwe from Nyeri to his cabinet.
A county that is home to Gachagua. Politically, the appointments were viewed as an attempt to cool the temperatures and probably counter Gachagua. It seems like the tactic is not working.
Today, Nyeri Town member of Parliament Mathenge was forced to run for his life over what happened.

According to the video shared online. Honorable Duncan Mathenge was forced to leave the meeting in Nyeri town after residents became chaotic. They demanded he leave immediately for allegedly betraying their son Rigathi Gachagua during impeachment and only to try and replace him with Kagwe.
The legislator left in a hurry with his team after minutes of pleading with residents to listen to him landed on def years.
