Kenyans are witnessing something that has never happened before. The battle for the titans in the impeachment of Deputy President of the republic of Kenya, Rigathi Gachagua.
The case has elicited heated debate within the courts that has led to exchange of words between two sides. The side that is representing Gachagua seems not to take any prisoners in their argument.
Drama started when the former attorney general ordered a lawyer to sit down because he was speaking.
Lawyer Khaminwa clashed with Githu Mwigai who had asked him to sit down and allow senior Counsel to speak first. In his remarks, Dr. Khaminwa lashed at Mwigai reminding him how he started practicing law when he was still young. He went on to claim that those titles are nothing without substantive contribution in law.
“I request to guide my friend Dr. Khaminwa on something. When q senior Counsel is speaking, he should sit down because we have preference in court. The only person who is supposed to speak while we are speaking is attorney general.” Said Githu Mwigai.
“I will not sit down . When I started practicing law, you were still breastfeeding. All those titles mean nothing to me” responded Khaminwa.
The court burst in laughter leaving Kenyans confused. The matter is sensitive and people are keenly watching a tense moment at Milimani law courts, Nairobi.
