Kenyans were thrown into deep mourning on December 17, 2025, following the sudden death of Supreme Court Judge Justice Ibrahim Mohammed, a respected jurist whose career in the judiciary spanned more than two decades.
The news of his passing shocked the nation, coming just days before his anticipated retirement from active judicial service.
According to a statement from the family, Justice Mohammed had been flown to India for specialized medical treatment after his health deteriorated.
However, doctors later advised that he be brought back home after it was established that the illness had reached an advanced stage.
Sadly, he passed away shortly after returning to Kenya, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to justice, the rule of law, and constitutionalism.
