President William Ruto on Saturday directed the homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to initiate an immediate probe into the deaths of over nine Kenyans whose bodies were discovered in a quarry in Mukuru, Nairobi.

Addressing residents of Elgeyo Marakwet, the President noted the government had been notified of the incident and investigations had commenced.

While issuing the directive, President Ruto called on the homicide detectives to work closely with the area police officers to investigate the matter to completion.

“In Nairobi, about nine bodies have been found and all of them are female. The government is still investigating the matter,” Ruto said. “I have directed the police and all those involved, including the DCI and homicide, to investigate what happened.”

The Head of State called on law enforcement agencies to expedite the matter and bring all perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.

President Ruto stated the government would do everything possible to arrest all the culprits involved in the gruesome murder of about nine women. “Those who were involved in the death of those kids in the quarry have to pay. They must be found and action taken against them,” he declared.

According to Ruto, the killings witnessed in Mukuru were against the constitution and the human rights of any nation.

“Those charged with investigating the matter witnessed in the quarry, where many Kenyans including young women were killed, must be found, taken to court, and the law applied to its fullest.”

The grim discovery has shocked the nation, drawing attention to the urgent need for thorough investigations and swift justice. The bodies, all female, were found in various stages of decomposition, wrapped in polythene bags and dumped in the quarry.

Human rights groups and local leaders have also called for a transparent investigation and swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
