Kenyans Mourn Professor Thomas Tony Onyango Mboya
Kenyans are still struggling to come to terms with the brutal killing of Professor Thomas Tony Onyango Mboya.
The renowned professor was attacked and killed at his rural home in Kakrigu, Rusinga Island, Suba, Nyanza region.
Unknown assailants stormed his residence while he relaxed, leaving him dead after a sudden and violent attack.
The attackers, armed with a panga, caught him off guard and ended his life mercilessly and abruptly.
According to reports, the killing was linked to an ongoing land dispute within the Nyanza region.
Academic Journey and Distinguished Career
Professor Mboya was born in 1970 and began his education at Kokuro Secondary School, completing in 1987.
He later joined Homa Bay High School, completing his Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) in 1989.
He proceeded to Egerton University for a Bachelor of Education (Science) degree, graduating in 1993 with honors.
In 1997, he pursued a Master of Science degree in Mathematics at the University of Nairobi, graduating in 1999.
Later, he joined the Catholic University of Eastern Africa as a lecturer before pursuing a PhD in Leeds.
Professor Mboya specialized in Inverse and Ill-posed Problems at the University of Leeds, graduating with a PhD in 2008.
In 2012, he joined the Technical University of Kenya as Senior Lecturer and Chair of Computational Mathematics.
He rose to become Director of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the Technical University of Kenya.
At the time of his death, he was serving as Associate Professor and respected academic leader at TUK.
Kenyans continue mourning, demanding justice, and calling for swift investigations into Professor Mboya’s brutal and shocking murder.
