Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed how the late banker Frank Marangu Ireri played a crucial role in his daughter Ngina Kenyatta’s marriage negotiations. Speaking during Ireri’s funeral mass at Karura Community Chapel on October 31, Uhuru recalled how his longtime friend helped smooth the engagement talks between Ngina and her husband, Alex Mwai.
The emotional former head of state recounted how Ireri, a close family friend, mediated the delicate process when his son-in-law approached him to seek Ngina’s hand in marriage. Uhuru humorously described how difficult it was for him to “let go of someone who lived in my compound,” referring affectionately to his daughter.
