Kapseret Member of Parliament Hon. Oscar Kipchumba Sudi has stirred mixed reactions across the country after revealing details about his personal relationship with the late Orange Democratic Party (ODM) leader, Raila Amolo Odinga.
The revelation comes just days after the veteran opposition chief was laid to rest at his Opoda Farm home in Bondo, Siaya County.
Speaking candidly, Sudi disclosed that he used to visit Raila frequently, a claim that has left many Kenyans surprised considering their differing political affiliations.
“I was a frequent visitor in Baba’s home,” Sudi said, adding that he shared a cordial friendship with Raila and his family, including Raila Junior and the late Fidel Odinga.

In an interesting twist, Sudi recalled how, during the heated 2022 campaigns, he would criticize Raila publicly — at times calling him “a conman” and saying, ‘Huyu mzee amesumbua hii nchi’.
However, he said that behind the scenes, he and Raila would talk over the phone and laugh about it. “It was never personal,” Sudi added, emphasizing that politics should not breed permanent enmity.
Raila Junior confirmed Sudi’s claims, acknowledging that the Kapseret legislator was indeed a frequent visitor at their home.
The revelation has since sparked a wave of reactions online, with many Kenyans expressing disbelief at the camaraderie between the outspoken UDA MP and the late opposition leader.
Sudi concluded by admitting that his friendship with Raila and his family taught him valuable lessons about humility and respect, even among political rivals.
