Our sources have revealed that President William Ruto is preparing a strategic tour of Trans Nzoia County aimed at wooing Governor George Natembeya and other key Opposition leaders to his side ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The move signals a renewed push by the President to strengthen his foothold in regions where he performed poorly in 2022.
According to the report, Ruto has trained his focus on the multiethnic county, where he is counting on the influence of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Wetang’ula remains a dominant political figure in both Trans Nzoia and neighbouring Bungoma, and his support is expected to boost the President’s efforts to penetrate former Azimio strongholds.
Sources indicate that Ruto is keen on countering the growing political influence of Governor Natembeya and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa.

The duo played a crucial role in denying him a substantial share of the vote in the 2022 polls, where he trailed opposition chief Raila Odinga in the region.
Their continued collaboration is seen as a major obstacle to Ruto’s ambitions, prompting State House to explore ways of driving a wedge between them.
Political analysts suggest the President is fully aware of the uphill task he faces in Trans Nzoia. As a result, plans are underway to craft a fresh political formula that could weaken the Natembeya–Wamalwa axis and potentially redraw the county’s political map.
The head of state is expected to engage local leaders extensively during his development-focused tour scheduled for next week.
The visit will include inspection of ongoing projects, commissioning of new initiatives, and a series of public engagements designed to shift political loyalty ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 contest.
Ruto’s move comes amid heightened national realignments, with leaders across the country positioning themselves early for the next electoral cycle
