“No Resting At All”: Gachagua’s Latest Move After Jetting Back From USA Leaves Kenyans Stunned
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has left Kenyans talking after immediately resuming political engagements upon returning to Kenya from the United States, where he had spent more than six weeks.
Gachagua, who returned to the country on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, was accompanied by his wife, Mama Dorcas Gachagua. Photos shared online showed the former Deputy President welcoming and addressing members of the Linda Mwanainchi movement shortly after his arrival.
The delegation was led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, among other political leaders associated with the emerging opposition movement.
His decision to host the political team without taking time to rest has attracted attention, with his latest move highlighting the busy political schedule awaiting him ahead of the 2027 General Election.
During his stay in the United States, Gachagua reportedly held meetings with various Kenyan and foreign leaders. He has indicated that his engagements abroad were part of efforts to develop a strategy for challenging President William Ruto in the next presidential election.

Although details of the discussions held during his American trip remain limited, his immediate meeting with the Linda Mwanainchi team has sparked fresh speculation about opposition coordination and possible political realignments.
The meeting also comes at a time when opposition leaders are seeking to strengthen their cooperation and build a united political front ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 polls.
Sifuna and Natembeya’s presence at Gachagua’s residence could signal continued consultations among leaders seeking an alternative to the Kenya Kwanza administration, although the specific resolutions reached during the meeting have not been publicly established.
Gachagua’s return is therefore expected to inject fresh energy into opposition activities, particularly as political leaders intensify their preparations for the next electoral contest.
With barely a moment between landing and hosting political allies, the former Deputy President appears ready to resume his political engagements immediately.
His next moves could offer further clues about the direction of the opposition and the strategy being developed to challenge Ruto in 2027.
