Former Gatundu South Member of Parliament and former Cabinet Secretary for Trade, Honorable Moses Kuria, has broken his silence following reports linking him to a multibillion-shilling scandal involving a stalled industrial park project.
The controversy centers on an alleged Sh5 billion initiative that was launched during his tenure at the Ministry of Trade, raising public debate over accountability and media reporting.
According to reports by the Nation, the industrial park project, which was initially envisioned as a flagship program to boost manufacturing and job creation, failed to take off as planned, leading to the loss of public funds. The publication suggested that decisions made during Kuria’s time at the ministry played a role in the project’s collapse.
However, Kuria has strongly denied any wrongdoing, distancing himself from the alleged scandal and accusing the media house of misrepresentation.

In a strongly worded statement, the former minister expressed frustration at what he termed as unfair targeting and selective reporting by the Nation Media Group (NMG).
“The Nation Media Group remains the biggest embarrassment in the media industry and a threat to media freedom,” Kuria stated.
He questioned why his image and name were prominently featured in the coverage, yet those of his successors were allegedly omitted.
Kuria emphasized that he left the Ministry of Trade on October 4, 2023, and insisted that the project’s downfall occurred after his exit.
“I am a complainant who is being portrayed as the offender,” he added, maintaining that he was among those who raised concerns about the project’s derailment.
Kuria further argued that the industrial park was a “revolutionary dream” conceived during his tenure but later abandoned or mismanaged by those who took over.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions across the political divide, with supporters defending Kuria’s record while critics call for thorough investigations into the project.
As pressure mounts, the unfolding saga is likely to intensify calls for transparency, accountability, and responsible journalism in the handling of public interest matters.
