Lawyer and political activist Dr. Miguna Miguna has sparked intense debate online after claiming that key political figures are positioning political proxies for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Miguna asserted that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is aiming to retain power behind the scenes by sponsoring three main candidates. According to Miguna, Uhuru’s political “projects” on the 2027 ballot are Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Okengo Matiang’i.
Miguna did not spare current President William Ruto, claiming that while Ruto will seek re-election directly, he is also backing Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro as a secondary proxy option.

Furthermore, Miguna weighed in on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alleging that should Gachagua be blocked from running by court challenges, he has similarly chosen Kalonzo Musyoka as his backup candidate.
Strongly criticizing the political landscape, Miguna urged citizens to reject what he termed “neocolonial games of recycling bandits.” He argued that elections often function as an organized system to deceive the public into believing they have power to change leadership while the existing political establishment solidifies its hold on the nation.
