United Opposition candidate Seth Panyako has broken his silence after losing the highly contested Malava Constituency by-election to UDA Party candidate Hon. Ndakwa.
The race, which attracted national attention due to heightened political tension and allegations of intimidation, concluded with the electoral body declaring Ndakwa the winner a decision Panyako strongly disputes.
In a strongly worded statement to his supporters, Panyako insisted that he was the rightful winner of the by-election, alleging widespread interference in the tallying process. According to him, the results did not reflect the will of the Malava electorate.
“We won in 134 out of 198 polling stations, but still they managed to manipulate and subvert the will of the people,” Panyako claimed. “They used 54 polling stations to steal the elections.”

Panyako expressed gratitude to his supporters, praising them for what he described as steadfast loyalty throughout a difficult and tense campaign period. He also thanked his campaign team, legal advisors, party leadership, and individuals who contributed financially to his bid “including those who contributed 1 bob.”
“Thank you my Malava people. Your love and trust in me has been steadfast,” he said. “Despite violence against us and attempts on my life, you stood firm. Our heads are still up.”
He further warned those he accuses of manipulating the results, saying “judgement awaits them,” while assuring his supporters that the alleged loss does not mark the end of his political journey.
“I have not lost this election and therefore it cannot determine my political future,” he declared.
Panyako’s remarks are likely to spark further political debate as the opposition considers its next steps, including whether to challenge the results through legal avenues.
