The issue of extending the term limit for elected leaders from five years to seven has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans. The motion which was sponsored by Nandi county Senator Samson Cherargei has sparked mixed reactions Among Kenyans who are demanding he drops it in totality.
Some have even gone ahead to threaten nationwide Protests if he insists on going forward with it. Well, national assembly majority leader Kimani Ichungwa’h has finally opened up on the possibility of extending term limits.
According to Kimani Ichungwa’h, the bill will not see the light of the day at all. He has asked Samson Cherargei to save his time and that of the Senate in discussing the bill. He has also asked him not to use taxpayers money While discussing such things that are dead on arrival.
“That Cherargei legislative proposal on term
limits is DEAD on arrival, PERIOD.
He should save his own time, that of other Senators and tax payers money.@citizentvkenya” posted Kimani Ichungwa’h.
Kenyans Reactions.
“We really elected a confused government. Is Samson Cherargei not a member of the United Democratic Party? Why don’t you just call him and demand he drop the bill. You’re really trying hard to make Kenyans hate this administration” posted Rachel.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta Warned us. We ignored him and now it is time to pay for our sins. We are going to witness more worse things than this. He was testing Waters to see how we will react. Maybe it is time to breach the senate. Very useless leaders.” Said Mariona.
