Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza can breath a sign of relief after High Court order on her Impeachment. According to a report from the court, the Meru speaker has been asked not to declare the seat vacant. This should remain until the case filled is heard and determined in September.
KAWIRA IMPEACHMENT.
Kawira Mwangaza was impeached by Meru County assembly. A decision that was upheld by the Senate of Kenya. 25 senators voted to impeach her in all three counts:
- Gross Violation of the constitution
- Mismanagement of public resources
- Arrogance and disrespect to other leaders.
This was the third time of her being impeached by the county assemble. She was saved twice by the Senate. They warned her and demanded that she works well with the rest of the leaders from the region.
MERU RESIDENTS REACTION.
Meru residents have reacted in different ways. Some that are supporting Impeachment of the governor are asking her to step aside. They want Meru people to enjoy development from other side too. However, those supporting her have asked her to move to court. They want her to argue her case effectively. They believe she will win.
“Mwangaza is a good leader. She is just being fought by those opponents she defeated In election. She should be allowed to serve her term.” Said one of the resident supering the governor.
