The Kenyan Nairobi Central business is turning out to be a battle ground for youths and Police officers. For months now, many protesters have lost their lives on the streets leaving many families crying for justice.
Just a few days ago, many youths again lost their lives during Sabasaba protests. The protests that turned violent leaving many people running for their lives.

Well, today on July 9, 2025, at around 10:45PM. Running battles were reported in Nairobi CBD. According to a renowned journalist, Stephen Letoo, youths who had gathered for the candle session in honor of mask vendor Kariuki who was shot and killed by Police officers were dispersed by officers.
From the video, youths are seen asking officers to allow them light candles, something that they refused to do hence leading to alteration and running battles.
” We just want to light the candle in honor of Kariuki. We are not here to fight police officers. Our mission is simple, to pray and light candles, nothing more.” Said one of those dispersed by Police officers.
