Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya on Saturday visited Kakamega County, where he met with local leaders and community members in Matungu Constituency.
The governor, flanked by his close allies, landed at Shiembekho Shrine with the aim of meeting the Wanga Kingdom’s King, Peter Nabongo, and discussing matters of unity and regional development.
However, the visit took a dramatic turn when a group of goons armed with crude weapons disrupted his rally at Marinda area, Kakamega County. Despite the chaos, Natembeya addressed supporters, thanking them for remaining calm and united in the face of provocation.
“Our day has been a success,” Natembeya said. “Even though a senior Kakamega County official paid goons as little as 500 shillings each to attempt to disrupt our visit, the people stood firm and resisted.”

The Trans Nzoia governor went on to forgive those behind the attempted disruption, saying the youth involved were victims of unemployment and systemic neglect.
“We forgive those who planned the chaos, because in the end, they failed. We also forgive our innocent youths, for they are victims of a system that has presided over the collapse of industries in Western Kenya,” he stated, citing the collapse of Mumias Sugar Company as a major contributor to joblessness.
Natembeya reaffirmed his commitment to championing Luhya unity and economic revival across Western Kenya, emphasizing the need for regional leaders to work together for a common purpose.
“This is why we insist on having a seat at the decision-making table—for the sake of our people and the future of Western Kenya. Luhya unity is unstoppable and inevitable,” he declared, as his supporters cheered in solidarity.
