Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reaffirmed his commitment to vie for the presidency in the upcoming 2027 General Election, declaring that his top priority will be to ease the financial burden currently facing Kenyans.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with KTN News, Gachagua said his administration would focus on addressing the economic distress that has left many citizens and businesses struggling to survive.
Gachagua emphasized that his first mission upon assuming office would be to ensure that all pending bills owed by the government are settled immediately.
He explained that the failure to pay suppliers and contractors on time has crippled small and medium-sized enterprises across the country, leaving thousands of Kenyans in financial ruin.

“Many people have supplied goods and services to both the national and county governments, but their payments have been delayed for months, even years.
Some have lost their homes, vehicles, and livelihoods because of unpaid government debts,” Gachagua said. “When I take over, all pending bills will be cleared immediately so that businesspeople can recover and our economy can start breathing again.”
The former Deputy President further noted that economic revival will form the foundation of his leadership agenda. He promised to create a government that is transparent, accountable, and focused on empowering ordinary citizens rather than burdening them with excessive taxes.
Gachagua’s remarks come amid growing economic frustration among Kenyans who continue to lament the high cost of living and delayed government payments.
His message has resonated with many small business owners and traders who feel neglected by the current administration.
As the 2027 political race gains momentum, Gachagua appears determined to position himself as the candidate of economic recovery and financial justice for all Kenyans.
