Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua set the record straight on his plan to run for the top seat in Kenya, the Presidency.
Speaking during the interview with a local television station, the impeached opposition leader was asked how he is going to run for the top seat and yet the law is clear, if someone is impeached, he or she cannot run in the subsequent elections.
He declared his candidature and went on to tell presenter Yvonne Matole Okwara who was interviewing him.

According to Gachagua, he will only fail to be President of the republic of Kenya if the supreme court upholds his impeachment. For now, he is focused on making sure President William Ruto remains to be a one term President.
Gachagua mentioned that, just like other political leaders who were taken to courts but were elected. He is not going to stop asking Kenyans to stop supporting him.
“Yvonne Okwara, let me be clear. I will be on the ballot come 2027 general election. It is only the supreme court which can Stop me. If we are going to agree as the opposition team that I’m the one who will fly the flag, then, all will be possible. If we agree it is someone else, then so be it. I will support that person going forward without any issues.” Said Gachagua.
