The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretariat today issued a strongly worded statement attacking former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing the two of undermining ODM leader Raila Odinga.
According to the letter, Gachagua was allegedly behind widespread rumours claiming that Raila was unwell, while Kalonzo Musyoka was accused of sabotaging Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
The statement further warned that those attempting to destabilize Raila’s political influence within the opposition would face “political consequences.”
In a swift and fiery response, Gachagua dismissed ODM’s claims as “baseless and desperate propaganda.” Speaking from his Karen residence, the former Deputy President said he had never spoken about Raila’s health and had no interest in doing so.

“I don’t care whether Raila Odinga is sick or not. That’s none of my business,” Gachagua said. “I have not made any comment on his condition anywhere. What ODM is doing is simply trying to distract Kenyans from the truth — that Raila has lost touch with the people who once supported him.”
Gachagua went on to accuse the opposition of using sympathy politics to revive their dwindling popularity. “Kenyans have moved on. Raila is only trying to get back to the people who abandoned him politically,” he added.
Neither Raila Odinga nor Kalonzo Musyoka had publicly commented on the matter by press time. However, the ODM Secretariat maintained that it would continue defending its leader against what it termed as “coordinated political attacks” from within and outside the opposition.
