Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced the entry of Nyali Member of Parliament, Hon. Mohamed Ali, popularly known as “Jicho Pevu,” into the opposition fold. The move marks a significant political realignment, given Ali’s previous association with President William Ruto during the 2027 campaigns.
Taking to his official social media account on Saturday, Gachagua expressed gratitude for Ali’s recovery from a long-term knee injury that had hindered his ability to serve his constituents effectively.
“I thank God for healing my great friend Hon. Mohamed Ali, aka Jicho Pevu, who has struggled with serious knee injury for almost a year after multiple surgeries denying him the opportunity to effectively serve the people of Nyali Constituency,” Gachagua stated.

He added that he was delighted to reconnect with Ali, recalling their days in the 12th Parliament. Gachagua praised Ali as a young, talented leader whom he is personally mentoring.
“Moha has a great future as a leader for the Coast Region and Kenya. I am very impressed by his great ideas on how to mobilise the Coast region to liberate our country,” he said.
In his remarks, the former Deputy President emphasized that the Coast region has for years suffered political betrayal despite enduring historical injustices, particularly land issues.
He noted that residents continue to bear the brunt of economic mismanagement, as well as the collapse of key sectors such as education and healthcare.
“The pain and anguish will come to an end on the ballot in August 2027,” Gachagua declared, signaling his plans to rally the Coast region behind the opposition movement.
The entry of Hon. Ali is expected to bolster Gachagua’s political influence at the Coast, a region historically seen as a crucial battleground in national politics.
