A night that began like any other weekend outing in Kitengela ended in panic, confusion and a heavy police presence after gunfire erupted inside a popular entertainment spot.
Patrons scattered for safety as emergency responders rushed in, while investigators moved to piece together the circumstances that led to the violent episode. In the hours that followed, authorities sealed off the area, interviewed witnesses, and began tracking the movements of those believed to be involved.
It later emerged that two people had been seriously injured during the shooting and were rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to police, the victims were initially treated at Kajiado Referral Hospital as doctors worked to stabilise them.
One of the injured men, identified as Kevin Maseri, was later transferred to Metropolitan Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
Despite efforts by medical teams, Maseri succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, police confirmed.
His death has deepened concern over rising insecurity in nightlife spots around Kitengela and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of safety measures in entertainment venues.
The second victim remains hospitalised, with police saying his condition is being closely monitored. Officers have not disclosed further details about the extent of his injuries, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to protect the victim’s privacy.
