A night that began like any other weekend outing in Kitengela ended in panic, confusion and a heavy police presence after gunfire erupted inside a popular entertainment spot.
Patrons scattered for safety as emergency responders rushed in, while investigators moved to piece together the circumstances that led to the violent episode. In the hours that followed, authorities sealed off the area, interviewed witnesses, and began tracking the movements of those believed to be involved.
It later emerged that two people had been seriously injured during the shooting and were rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to police, the victims were initially treated at Kajiado Referral Hospital as doctors worked to stabilise them.
One of the injured men, identified as Kevin Maseri, was later transferred to Metropolitan Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
Despite efforts by medical teams, Maseri succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, police confirmed.
His death has deepened concern over rising insecurity in nightlife spots around Kitengela and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of safety measures in entertainment venues.
The second victim remains hospitalised, with police saying his condition is being closely monitored. Officers have not disclosed further details about the extent of his injuries, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to protect the victim’s privacy.

Preliminary findings suggest the shooting occurred following an altercation inside the club, though detectives say they are still establishing the exact sequence of events.
Witnesses have been asked to record statements as police review CCTV footage from the premises and surrounding businesses to identify suspects and determine how a firearm was brought into the venue.
Kajiado County police commander said officers are pursuing leads and assured the public that those responsible will be held to account. He also urged club owners and security personnel to reinforce screening procedures to prevent weapons from entering entertainment spots.
Maseri’s family has been notified of his death and is receiving support as investigations continue. Meanwhile, residents and business owners in Kitengela have expressed shock over the incident, describing it as a grim reminder of the risks associated with lax security.
