For weeks now since leaving the office. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been making in-roads in the Mount Kenya region. He has been attending several meetings and funerals engaging residents on the way forward.
Well, his influence has been making shockwaves within the ruling Kenya Kwanza administration. Yesterday, December 18, 2024. Gachagua claimed that a National intelligence service officer was trailing him from his home to Mbooni, Makueni County. He went on to share a photo of the said person leaving Kenyans talking.
It seems like the president has taken note of gachagua’s influence in Mount Kenya and his latest action has left Kenyans asking questions.

President William Ruto and appointed Mutahi Kahiga from Nyeri County as cabinet Secretary for Agriculture. His appointment has been seen as a counter to gachagua’s influence there. He has also appointed former Kiambu County Governor Kabogo and former Nakuru County governor Lee Kinyanjui as cabinet Secretaries.
With more appointments from Mount Kenya region, political analysts are having reservations on how Gachagua will convince his people from central not to vote for Ruto. The appointments are seen as a 2027 game Plan that is aimed at making sure he is reelected.
Although former President Uhuru Kenyatta has not spoken publicly if he is supporting President William Ruto. Appointment of his allies to the cabinet has been seen as total assurance of his support to the current administration. Well, lets wait and see what happens next.
