Democratic Congress Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader Honorable Cleophas Wakhungu Malalah has joined a growing chorus of leaders and Kenyans calling for clear answers surrounding the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Honorable Cyrus Jirongo.
Jirongo passed away a few days ago following a tragic road accident involving his vehicle and a Climax bus that was traveling from Nairobi to Busia County.
According to the initial account given by the bus driver, the collision occurred after Jirongo’s vehicle joined the highway. However, emerging inconsistencies in the driver’s narration have raised fresh questions, prompting authorities to take further action.
On Tuesday, the Climax bus driver was summoned to appear before officers at the Naivasha Police Traffic Base, where he was instructed to shed more light on what transpired before and during the accident.

Investigators are now working to reconcile the conflicting details as the public pressure for transparency continues to mount.
Speaking after visiting Jirongo’s Nairobi home, Malalah said he joined several senior political leaders to commiserate with the bereaved family.
Among those present were DCP Party Leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party Leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K Party Leader Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, DP Party Leader Hon. JB Muturi, and other leaders from across the political divide.
In his statement, Malalah described the late Jirongo as a steadfast and sincere leader who would be remembered for his generosity, benevolence, and pragmatic approach to leadership. He noted that despite the official explanations so far, many questions remain unanswered.
“Questions abound as to the exact cause of his death, considering that several loose threads have been left hanging,” Malalah said, demanding speedy and thorough investigations to establish the precise circumstances surrounding Jirongo’s demise. He wondered how 65 passengers in a climax bus that killed Jirongo their son are silent on the matter.
He emphasized that a transparent probe would help bring closure to Jirongo’s family, friends, relatives, and constituents, as the nation continues to mourn the veteran politician.
