Today on Monday, October 7, 2024. Governors converged in Nairobi for one reason. Election of new leaders that will be in charge of Council of governors.
The voting session was so intense that surprises were predicted from those who attended. Well, it seems like the voting process ended well with Gachagua Ally getting appointment to powerful position in the council.
Nyeri County governor Mutahi Kahiga has been appointed Vice chair Council of governors. This was after wajir governor Mohamed was elected chair taking over from Kirinyaga governor Waiguru.
Kahiga was seen as favourite to takeover from Waiguru but regional politics played a role in denying his opportunity.
This is because Waiguru was from Mount Kenya hence they wanted someone from other regions. It is also alleged his vocal defence of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua deemed his chances.
The Nyeri County governor has been on record asking President William Ruto to respect the second in command.
