
KANU party leader Honorable Gideon Moi has for a long time avoided politics since losing his senatorial position in Baringo County.
This was after he refused to join hands with President William Ruto and instead supported the Azimio La Umoja coalition which was headed by Orange democratic Party leader, Honorable Raila Odinga. But now, he has declared his candidature in the upcoming by-election in Baringo.

According to KANU party communication director Mr. Manase Nyainda, Moi will be Fighting to recapture his seat, a seat he lost in the 2022 general election. He has vowed to take on United Democratic party candidate.
This has been interpreted as a battle field between Gideon Moi and President William Ruto for the control of Riftvalley region votes. The supremacy battle is expected to show who might succeed Ruto and the region kingpin when he is out of office.
