Nairobi — Wiper Party spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru has accused Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna of disrespecting Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka following a chaotic opposition gathering on Friday, October 30.
The altercation occurred during the launch event of the Linda Mwananchi Movement in Nairobi. Troubles began when former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka took to the podium and suggested that the broader opposition coalition had not yet finalized its 2027 presidential flagbearer.
Drawing parallels to the 2002 election, Kalonzo emphasized the need for unified consensus, which sections of the crowd interpreted as a refusal to endorse Sifuna’s presidential ambitions.
Youths in attendance responded with loud heckling, forcing Kalonzo to pause his speech. Although Sifuna stepped in to restore order and calm the crowd, the Wiper camp laid the blame squarely on the Nairobi Senator.

Speaking after the event, Njiru strongly criticized Sifuna’s leadership and conduct at shared political platforms.
“Sifuna must be told, in no uncertain terms, that neither psychopathy nor mediocrity will propel him to the presidency. There must be mutual respect,” Njiru stated.
Njiru went on to raise the possibility that the disruption was stage-managed to embarrass the senior opposition figure, though he provided no concrete evidence to substantiate the claim. Sifuna’s camp did not immediately issue a response regarding the allegations.
The confrontation highlights growing friction within the opposition ranks ahead of the 2027 general election.
While Sifuna was recently declared party leader of the newly rebranded Linda Mwananchi party, Kalonzo has consistently maintained that 2027 is his time to be on the ballot after supporting other candidates in previous cycles.
