Meru County governor Kawira Mwangaza is smiling after today’s Court decision in her impeachment case.
Mwangaza rushed to court after the senate voted to remove her from the office a few months ago. According to the Senate ruling then, she was found to be guilty of abusing her office among other things.
Well, today, the court has granted her wish leaving Kenyans talking According to Judge Bahati Mwamuye found that the petitioner was able to meet the legal requisite threshold for grant of conservatory orders. The orders have been extended for another 120 days. This is until the case is heard and determined by the courts.

“Having analysed the issues for determination, it’s my overall finding that the petitioner applicant has met the requisite legal threshold for the grant of conservatory orders and for them to be confirmed and extended to the full hearing and determination of the petition herein.” Report.

With this ruling, Meru County members will have to stick with Mwangaza for another four months as the case head to trial. If the court finds that indeed she is guilty, she will join Mike Sonko and Waititu as governors who were successfully impeached. If she survived, she will Join a long list of those who managed to stay in the office like, Martin Wambora who served over 3 impeachment processes.
