Mbeere North seat is proving to be a tag of war between President William Ruto and his former principal assistant Rigathi Gachagua. The seat will determine who is who in Mount Kenya region.
Gachagua is planning to use the by-election as litmus paper for his grasp on Mount Kenya region. On the other hand, Kindiki is planning to use the election as proof he is the defacto kingpin.
According to Gachagua, he managed to hold a meeting with Mbeere North candidate Newton Karush, Honorable Mukunji and Justine Muturi.
Background On How Gachagua Has managed To Pull Tactical Cards.
After announcing the plan to pull out of Mbeere North for the sake of DP party candidate. Gachagua created a storm among DCP party members who wanted the party to be on the ballot.
Hon. Mukunji even protested claiming it was wrong for the party to drop its candidate for the sake of United opposition.
Well, it seems like Gachagua has managed to bring him back and he is supporting the United opposition candidate karish. By doing so, he has avoided a possible fallout that could have affected the opposition negatively.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’ Statement.
Towards our victory in Mbeere North by-elections, I have held an in-depth consultation with our Opposition Candidate Newton Karish, the DP party leader Hon. Justin Muturi and Manyatta MP Hon. Mukunji today.
We have wished him the very best as he presents his papers to the IEBC tomorrow.
The People of Mbeere North deserve leadership that listens to them and understands that a member of parliament needn’t be an executive stooge but a representative, a law maker, and an oversight to the executive.
God Bless the People of Mbeere North.
