Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was today on October 8, 2024 impeached by 281 members of Parliament in a dramatic manner. Only 44 legislators stood by his side to halt the process but all was in vain.
With the constitution putting the number of those who can remove deputy from office at 233 members. His goose was cooked. Well, how can he redeem himself?
He has only three options at his disposal to save his career going forward.
1. Put up a spirited Fight At The Senate With Evidence.
Here, the Senate will decide if they will go a plenary way of committee way. He will have to produce evidence that indeed his removal is not just malice.
2. President his Case at court of Appeal If he Senate Upholds His Removal.
Like in the case of former Embu Governor Wambora who survived impeachment twice. Gachagua might get reprieve from the courts. He will have to convince the bench with massive evidence.
3. Take his case to supreme Court. If he fails to convince the bench. It will be done.
Here is his final card on his political career. If he fails here, it’s done for him. He will never hold a public office again in his life and his political career will be done. Here it is his end game if he fails to convince them supreme Court Judges.
