High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi has taken a move that has left the country shocked. He has sentenced Acting Inspector General of Police Masengeli to prison. While reading his judgement today, Mugambi cited failure of Masengeli to appear before the court as abuse of power.
He therefore ordered him to present himself to the commissioner of prisons and start his sentence immediately. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki has also been given directives on what he must do incase Masengeli fails to appear at Prison prsmises.
The court has ordered Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki to make sure that Masengeli is present at Prison incase he fails to appear there as ordered.
Kenyans have taken to social media to react. Some are asking who will arrest the acting inspector general of Police. He is the senior most officer in the service and we are waiting to see how things are going to unfold going forward.
” The court has pronounced itself on the issues. It has sentenced the most senior officer in the police service. In this case, who is going to arrest him? Who will Jail him and in which prison” posted Asman.
“We are witnessing strange things as a country. Now, we have inspector general who is a convict. Who will help Kenya?” Asked Joseph.
