Former President Donald Trump is reported safe following a shooting incident near Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday afternoon. The U.S. Secret Service is leading the investigation, with the FBI and local authorities assisting.

According to the Secret Service, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. when a male suspect with a high-powered rifle was spotted near the golf course, where Trump was playing at the time.

Secret Service agents responded swiftly, engaging the suspect by firing multiple shots. The man reportedly attempted to flee but was apprehended soon after.

A weapon has been recovered, and one individual is in custody, though no motive has been established. In a brief statement, Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung assured the public that the former president was unharmed.

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity,” Cheung said.Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that the incident is under investigation.

“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump,” Guglielmi said. “The former president is safe.
