Nairobi, August 15, 2024 – In a dramatic press conference held in Nairobi, ousted United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Wakhungu Malala unleashed a series of explosive allegations regarding his recent removal from the position.

Malala, who was abruptly dismissed from his role, claimed that his close ties with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagwa were a significant factor behind his forced exit.

Addressing a room full of journalists, Malala asserted that key figures within the party were behind his ouster.

He specifically named Kimani Ichungwah, the Member of Parliament for Kikuyu, and Cecile Mbarire, the Embu Governor, the current chairperson of the UDA, as central figures in a conspiracy aimed at removing Gachagwa from office.

According to Malala, their strategy involved first eliminating him from his role as Secretary General to pave the way for their broader agenda of ousting the Deputy President.

Adding fuel to the fire, Malala accused the newly appointed interim UDA Secretary Hassan Omar of being complicit in this scheme.

He alleged that Omar’s appointment was orchestrated under heavy security at the UDA headquarters, a move that he claimed was designed to cement the conspiracy against Gachagwa and himself.

Malala has vowed to contest his removal through legal means. He has formally requested the Registrar of Political Parties to intervene and halt the ongoing process of his replacement.

“I have written to the Registrar of Political Parties protesting my ouster and the installation of Hassan Omar as the new Secretary General,” Malala stated.

“I want my case to be heard and resolved fairly. I am not fighting anyone personally; I am simply seeking justice through legal channels. There is no valid reason for my removal, as I have served diligently and fulfilled all my responsibilities as Secretary General.”

The ousted Secretary General dismissed claims that his removal was connected to his alleged opposition to President William Ruto’s broad-based government, which now includes opposition leaders in various key ministries. Malala contended that the real motive behind his dismissal was the broader plot to unseat Gachagwa.

Looking ahead, Malala announced his intention to run for the Secretary General position again in the upcoming elections, expected to take place within the next 180 days.

He called on party officials to amend the UDA’s constitution to prevent elected leaders from holding significant party positions, except for the President and Deputy President.

Furthermore, Malala hinted at forthcoming revelations, stating that he would soon present 17 pieces of crucial evidence implicating those involved in the conspiracy against him and Gachagwa.

These documents, he promised, would shed light on the inner workings of the alleged plot and provide clarity on the motivations behind his removal.

As the political drama unfolds, all eyes will be on how the UDA responds to these serious allegations and whether Malala’s legal efforts will reshape the party’s leadership dynamics. Read More Here
