Raila In Trouble After Making A Strong Declaration With President Ruto

Nairobi, Kenya – Orange Democratic Party leader Raila Odinga is facing significant criticism from youths after making a contentious declaration during a recent event at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The veteran politician, who met with President William Ruto for the signing of the National Dialogue and Cohesion Organization (NADCO) report, announced plans for a dialogue with Generation Z youths.

Odinga suggested that such discussions could help the country move past the unrest and anti-government protests that have troubled Kenya in recent months.

However, Odinga’s remarks have not been well-received by the youth. Online platforms have been flooded with rebukes from young Kenyans who view his initiative as unwarranted interference.

Many youths have voiced their concerns, arguing that Odinga’s involvement undermines their ongoing accountability forums, which have been actively addressing issues independently for weeks.

Social media users have been particularly vocal, with some accusing Odinga of attempting to hijack the youth-led movements for political gain. “We don’t need political figures interfering with our efforts,” one user tweeted.

“Let us handle our issues; we have been doing fine without external influence.”This backlash highlights the growing frustration among young Kenyans with the political establishment.

Many youths feel that their voices and efforts are often overshadowed by veteran politicians who fail to understand their struggles and aspirations.

Critics have also urged Odinga to concentrate on his responsibilities as the African Union’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development, rather than involving himself in local youth matters.

“Raila should focus on his AU role and leave the youth to manage their affairs,” a commentator noted on a popular news site.

As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how Odinga will respond to the youth’s discontent and whether he will adjust his approach to engaging with Kenya’s younger generation.
