ODM MP Declares Himself Opposition Leader Infront Of Ruto, Reveals Next Plan.
Suna East MP Junet Mohammed made a bold declaration in Homabay County. Speaking during Finance CS John Mbadi’s homecoming, Junet claimed leadership of Kenya’s opposition.
His statement was made in the presence of President William Ruto.Junet argued that no law currently recognizes an official opposition leader.
As the Leader of the Minority in the National Assembly, he believes he holds this position by default. Junet’s declaration has sparked political interest and debate across the country.
He emphasized that his role as Leader of the Minority makes him the de facto opposition head. Junet also revealed that he and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah are working together on a new law.

This proposed legislation aims to officially recognize the position of the opposition leader in Kenya.Junet’s bold stance and his collaboration with Ichung’wah may shift the political landscape.
The opposition’s leadership question has long been a matter of contention. The lack of legal recognition for an opposition leader has left a significant gap.Junet’s announcement comes amid ongoing political realignments in the country.
The homecoming event, initially meant to celebrate Mbadi, turned into a significant political moment. President Ruto, who was present, did not immediately respond to Junet’s declaration.
The collaboration between Junet and Ichung’wah suggests bipartisan support for the proposed law. If passed, it could formally establish the role of opposition leader, solidifying Junet’s claim.Kenya now watches closely as these developments unfold.
The introduction of such a law would mark a critical shift in the country’s political structure. Junet’s move has undoubtedly added a new dimension to Kenya’s political dynamics.
