Chief Justice Martha Koome has been under immense pressure to resign. Senior advocates in the country led by Ahmednasir and Nelson Havi have been pushing for her removal from office for allegedly failing to act on corruption allegations within her department.
She was asked to implement radical changes within the judiciary in order to stop the vice and regain public confidence again.
Well, it seems like the message has reached her and she has responded with how to end corruption. According to Martha Koome, corruption in the judiciary does not exist alone. There must be involvement of other people in the entire legal fraternity. So, to end corruption, everyone in the legal fraternity must work together as a team and everything will be fine.
“Corruption within the Judiciary cannot exist independently of corruption within the legal profession or broader society.” Said Martha Koome.
