Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli is a man under siege. His decision to ignore numerous court orders is playing against him. To add salt on the wound, he withdrew the security detail of Judge Lawrence Mugambi, a judge who sentenced him to jail.
His decision to withdraw security was termed as intimidation despite him making a clarification. In his presser, he stated the officers were removed for further training and that new ones were allocated.
According to the reports from the courts. The court of appeal has rejected acting inspector general petition to squash his six months Jail time.
This is a blow to him and the police service who will have to move with speed and arrest him. He will serve six months period if he does not move to supreme Court. He only have one option remaining to save himself.
The whole issue is now at Chief Justice Koome table. She will have to be part of the bench that will make a decision on Masengeli. Will she save Masengeli after public humiliation of a high Court Judge? Let’s wait and see how things will play out soon.
Why Masengeli was Jailed.
The acting inspector was Jailed for failing to appear to courts seven times to explain the abductions and forced disappearece of Kitengela youths.
