“Adani must go! Adani must go!” This is the song that is currently ranting air at the Kenyan major international airport.
An airport that has been ranked highly in previous years for having international standards, The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The pride of Africa lands there and take off to various destinations across the world with efficiency. Well, that seems to be fading so fast with latest developments.
Workers are not interested listening to Adani deal. They don’t want it since they were not involved in the negotiations.
Police officers were deployed to deal with the situation at JKIA. Instead of de-escalation, the officers made it worse as the whole situation turned violent leading to some arrests. Some of the workers were taken to custody forcing Atwoli to issue a statement demanding their release.
How Is Adani Deal Similar To What Was Offered To Magufuli?
In a video which is currently trending online. The late Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli rejected a deal to construct a port in Tanzanian due to strict rules. The rules were so tough that the President had to reject them for the better of Tanzanian citizens.
Magufuli in a clip shared online , he alleged that some investors approached him with a weird proposal. They Wanted to build a port in Tanzania but at condition that:
1. They takeover running of the port for 99 years before releasing it to the government of Tanzania.
2. That they change rules and collect all the revenue from it without remitting it to the government
3. They employ their people to work there exclusively.
4. That the government of Tanzania does not build any port for 99 years they will be operational.
Kenyan Adani Deal.
-They will have to control the port for 30 years.
-They be allowed to collect all revenue without remitting anything to Kenya revenue authority.
- That Kenyan government does not build any airport for 30 years they will be controlling Jomo Kenyatta International.
