Gov. Sakaja Savagely Responds To Gachagwa’s Plea After Muthirwa Violent Protests

The political tiff between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagwa and Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja seems not to be ending anytime soon. Today, on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Gachagwa took to his official socials to address Nairobi governor over Muthirwa protests.

He claimed that residents of Muthirwa called him after their stalls were demolished in a relocation plan. Sakaja and his team moved traders from Muthirwa with plans of making Nairobi more organized.

Gachagwa asked Sakaja to listen to the traders since during campaign in 2022. He campaigned for him there with a promise of no more demolitions once they get to power. It was unfortunate that it is happening again.

“My younger brother Governor Johnson Sakaja, traders from Wakulima Market, Nairobi County, have called me and reminded me of the undertaking you and I jointly gave them in July 2022 as I campaigned for you in Muthurwa. We gave a commitment that our Administration will never disrupt their lives or undermine their economic activities. Our Constitution provides for public participation before any major decisions that have a serious impact on the welfare of our citizens are taken.” Posted Gachagwa.

” Kindly, do consider having a sitting with the leadership of the market to agree on whatever changes your Government desires without adversely affecting their livelihoods. These traders gave you their trust and vote and it is only fair you give them an ear.Kindly, forgive me if I appear intrusive, but they are coming to me as I was your guarantor in matters of trust, Please my brother.” Added Gachagwa.

Well, on his official socials. Sakaja too has responded to the deputy President leaving Kenyans asking several questions.

Sakaja responded by saying that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagwa has his number and he should call him instead of using social media. Kenyans have reacted differently. Some are asking Sakaja to respect the second in command.
