For a period of time now, Mt. Kenya Region politics has been attracting plenty of attention in the country. That is because of the leadership issue that has been at the centre of discussion in the Region. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has been marshaling residents to unite behind him as their kingpin. On the other side, other leaders like Kimani Ichung’wah have been opposing him.
As things seem to be, DP Gachagua’s mission of uniting the Mountain people may be hitting a rock as today, several leaders allegedy came together and picked Interior CS Kithure Kindiki as their kingpin, a move that leaves the Second in Command under the bus.
Kithure Kindiki has been gaining popularity in Mt. Kenya Region. He has been proving himself as the next big guy and even after Ruto snubbing him as his running mate in favour of Gachagua prior to the 2022 general election, the Interior CS did not give up and as things seem to be, his patience may be paying off.
For now, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has not yet reacted on the news. He is still silence but definitely, he must be thinking about a move that will overturn things and make him the undisputed leader of the region.
On his part, Kithure Kindiki is still focused on delivering on his duties in the security docket. Whether or not he will take up the alleged endorsement and force his way up the road to become the region’s kingpin is not yet known at the moment, but definitely, it will be known soon enough as things continue boiling.
