President William Ruto’s appointment of the new Deputy President, Professor Kithure Kindiki excited many in Tharaka Nithi but it seems like it will have to wait.
The National Assembly of Kenya voted in massive numbers for the confirmation of Kindiki as designated Deputy President of the republic of Kenya.
His celebration was cut short by Justice Chacha Mwita order blocking him from assuming office. The judge ruled that the case has to be heard and determined before swearing in ceremonies takes place.
Well, one of the attorneys representing Gachagua has delivered some bad news to President William Ruto and good news to Gachagua.
Speaking to members of the Press after the morning session at Milimani law courts. Dastan Omari who is one of the lawyers representing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made a declaration that has left Kenyans talking. According to him, the impeachment case against Gachagua might end up taking three years.
He continued by claiming they are prepared to move to the court of appeal and finally at the supreme court until justice is served. He maintained that Gachagua was not offered fair hearing hence violation of his rights.
“Impeaching Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will take at least three years. We are going to move up to the supreme court. We will not allow injustice to occur to our client.” Said Omari.
If this happens, Kindiki and William Ruto will have to go back to the drawing board and come up with a new decision that will favor them with Gachagua in picture. Well, let’s see what happens next.
