Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has fiercely criticized state security apparatuses following the mysterious disappearance and alleged abduction of Nairobi advocate Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi.
The prominent lawyer took to public discourse to voice deep outrage over the incident, calling out top government officials and questioning the administration’s adherence to the rule of law.
The controversy erupted after Advocate Abshir Abdi was reported missing following an early morning incident along Muchai Drive near Ngong Road, where CCTV footage captured armed men dragging him out of his vehicle.
Ahmednasir denounced the alleged involvement of state security agents, labeling the act as total nonsense and expressing dismay that such extrajudicial detentions persist.
In a direct challenge to the executive branch, Ahmednasir recalled previous solemn assurances made by President William Ruto, who had publicly pledged that state-sanctioned abductions, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings would become a thing of the past under his administration.
The outspoken lawyer questioned how such incidents could continue occurring despite explicit commitments from the country’s highest office to uphold constitutional rights.
Addressing senior state officials directly, Ahmednasir urged government advisor Professor Makau Mutua and Attorney General Dorcas Agik Oduor to take immediate responsibility and intervene.
He demanded that key legal and advisory offices act swiftly to ensure the missing lawyer is safely located and reunited with his family without delay.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage across Kenya’s legal fraternity and human rights organizations, raising fresh concerns over state accountability, civil liberties, and the safety of legal practitioners.
Law society leaders and rights advocacy groups have joined the call, demanding full transparency and the immediate release of the missing advocate.
