Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has signaled a decisive shift in his political strategy by taking to the ground following a sharp wake-up call from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Gachagua hosted a delegation of leaders at his residence in Wamunyoro, Nyeri County. During the meeting, the former Deputy President hit back at opposition figures, accusing some of slacking, resting in comfortable hotel lounges, and holding endless press briefings instead of doing the actual legwork to mobilize voters at the grassroots.
Reminding his peers that winning an election is strictly a game of numbers, Gachagua urged united opposition figures to leave their comfort zones and hit the ground running.
Taking the cue, Kalonzo Musyoka promptly announced a grand campaign itinerary across Nyanza region under the banner of The Ukombozi Tour. Via his official social media channels, Musyoka rallied his supporters with the message: “Migori and Homa Bay, are you ready? The Ukombozi Tour is coming! Tukutane ground.”
According to the official schedule, the two-day whirlwind tour will kick off in Migori County on Thursday, November 5, 2026, featuring major stops at Ntimaru, Kehancha, and a main rally at Posta Grounds in Migori Town.
On Friday, November 6, the tour will head into Homa Bay County, starting with a visit to the historic Tom Mboya Mausoleum before holding high-octane political rallies in Oyugis Town and Kendu Bay Town.
Kalonzo’s swift action demonstrates a renewed commitment to grassroots mobilization and proves he is ready to take the battle directly to the ground as the race for 2027 gathers momentum.
