No More Games As Matiang’i Makes Bold Decision Ahead Of 2027 Election
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i, who is serving as the Jubilee Party Leader and Presidential Candidate, has taken a decisive step to consolidate opposition power ahead of the 2027 General Election.
During a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting chaired by Dr. Matiang’i on October 27, 2026, the party approved strategic measures to build a united political front.
The NEC resolved to set up an Inter-Party Coalition Building Committee to spearhead discussions with other opposition entities. This initiative recognizes Jubilee’s active membership in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance and aims to foster broader collaboration among like-minded political movements.

The newly appointed committee is chaired by Senator Kembi Gitura, working alongside National Secretary General Hon. Moitalel Ole Kenta and Hon. Janet Ong’era as members. The team has been tasked with three primary responsibilities:
- Reviewing the Draft Deed of Agreement: The committee will scrutinize and propose amendments to the framework governing the Ukombozi Alliance (TUA).
- Engaging Opposition Parties: The leadership will explore formal avenues for strategic cooperation and coalition-building across the opposition spectrum.
- Strengthening Opposition Unity: The panel will formulate concrete proposals to enhance joint strategies and consensus leading into the 2027 polls.
In addition to coalition efforts, the NEC made interim political appointments to fill vacant leadership slots. Ms. Lucy Naisiae Kashu was named Interim Chairperson of the Party Women’s Caucus, while Ms. Madina Yunis Mahat assumed the position of Interim Deputy National Organizing Secretary.
The party leadership also extended a goodwill message to national examination candidates sitting for their 2026 KILEA, KIPLEA, KIPSEA, KJSEA, and KCSE assessments, wishing all learners success across the country.
