Video: Caleb Amisi’s Warning to Sifuna That Was Ignored After Gachagua Visit
A video of Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi warning Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna against associating with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has resurfaced online, sparking debate among Kenyans.
In the video, Amisi cautioned Sifuna against aligning himself with Gachagua if he hoped to challenge President William Ruto successfully in the 2027 General Election.
According to Amisi, such an association could undermine Sifuna’s political ambitions, arguing that Kenyans would struggle to support a political arrangement involving the former deputy president.
The Saboti MP had previously expressed reservations about Gachagua, claiming that the former deputy president was not significantly different from Ruto in terms of the political direction he represented.

Amisi’s remarks appeared to suggest that opposition leaders seeking to unseat Ruto needed to carefully consider the political figures they associated with while building a formidable coalition ahead of the next general election.
However, the debate has taken a new turn following Sifuna’s visit to Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
The meeting has drawn attention because of Amisi’s earlier warning, with the resurfaced video prompting fresh questions about the relationship between the Nairobi senator and the former deputy president.
Sifuna’s visit has also generated mixed reactions on social media, with Kenyans debating whether opposition leaders should unite despite their political differences or remain cautious about the individuals they bring into their political formations.
Some observers may view the engagement as part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation among leaders opposed to Ruto’s administration, while others have questioned the possible political implications of the meeting.
With the 2027 elections approaching, interactions between prominent opposition figures are likely to attract increased scrutiny as leaders position themselves for the contest.
Neither the resurfaced warning nor the visit alone establishes what political arrangements may emerge. However, the development has reignited debate over the strategy opposition leaders should adopt to mount a serious challenge against Ruto in 2027.
